PHILIPPINES BEATS AUSTRALIA AS EXPATS' FAVORITE DESTINATION!
The Philippines beat Australia as a favorite destination for expats from around the world, ranking high number 8 overall, alongside rich countries like USA, Switzerland, Singapore and Spain.
In spite of poor living conditions and quality of life in the Philippines, the country has surprisingly ranked top 10 amongst the popular picks out of 61 countries, worldwide.
Topping the list of expats’ favorites was Ecuador (1), followed by Luxembourg (2nd), Mexico (3rd), Switzerland (4th), the United States (5th), Singapore (6th) and Spain (7th). The Philippines (8) which ranked higher than Australia (9th) and Hong Kong (10th). On the other hand, the least popular among expats were Greece, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
This was based on the 2014 survey report of the "Expat Insider", one of the biggest expat survey in the world.
While the Philippines scored very low in criteria such as health, public safety, public infrastructure and job opportunities, it ranked very high in "personal happiness", "ease of settling in", "friendliness", "family life", and "low cost of living". The respondents generally see the Philippines as a "paradise for single expats", the report said.
The respondents were randomly chosen from 160 countries around the world.
